Some Progress

I can’t believe it’s been a whole week since I said I would post progress pics of my Clapotis. Because I know so many people out there are waiting (sarcastic). Anyway, here’s what I have so far:

For all that is going on in my life right now I’m very surprised to have this much done. I love the pattern because I do have to pay attention, but not a lot. I can still have a glass or two of wine and still not get off count. It does help immensely to have a row counter though.

In other “progress”-type news, we finally found a house to buy. We had two inspections last week and the little things of concern from the first inspection turned out to be nothing major. So we’ll close on May 1st and get to work on it so we can move by the end of May. First in order – pick out new carpet and paint. Not fun for me. Hubby and I have very different tastes and I can see this leading to many arguments in the near future. How we ended up married is beyond me most days.

But I can’t wait to have a little garden in the back, my firepit on the patio and finally be paying our own mortgage rather than someone elses. Or paying rent to people who let their house go into foreclosure and do only God knows what with the rent money we send them every month. Oh yah, I haven’t gone into that story yet. The short version: our deadbeat landlords rented us this house (for an amazing price), then move across the country and stopped paying their mortgage. In February we got a notice from their mortgage lender that our house would be up for auction on June 19th. The house next door to us, which the own too, is set for auction tomorrow. Very interested to see what will come of that. Of course our landlord thinks he’s a smooth talker and gave us some bullshit story about how they were going to put off the foreclosure process for 6 months (amazing how that coinsides with the end of our “lease”) and not to worry about a thing. Yah, O.K.

So, there’s the brief update on the big progess in my life. Now if I could just get myself on the computer more often after work, I’d have so many more posts. Sorry, but the Clapotis is taking up the very little amount of free time I can find these days.
