The Evil Step-mom

Starting Monday I get to do my annual duty of being step-mom to my two step-daughters. That makes it sound like such a chore. It’s really not. In fact I’m lucky that for two teenager girls we’ve never had any major problems. They’ve always been well behaved and I think they like me. If they don’t they are very good actresses.

Usually they come out for a few weeks in the summer. That wasn’t possible this year so they are coming for Christmas and New Years. My hubby has never had his daughters for Christmas and is so excited. He’s usually excited to see them each year, but this year it’s different. I mean, he’s really excited. It’s very cute.

I’m glad they are coming out too, it’s just such a huge adjustment for the first few days. I mean, you live the majority of a year only having to take care of a husband and two small dogs and in the blink of an eye your family almost doubles. I think anyone would need a few days to adjust. And a couple bottles of wine handy just in case the adjustment isn’t smooth.

It’s always a challenge finding things to do to keep them from getting bored. But we’re all in a new city this year and I think it will be a good way for my hubby and I to get out and do some exploring around the town with them. Plus all his family is here and if they get bored I know they will want to hang out elsewhere.

Despite it being the most expensive three weeks of our year, I can’t wait to have them here. However, I’m sure not much blogging will be getting done. Like I’ve been so good at keeping up with it lately anyway
